MAGGIE BOYD - THE TRIUMPHAL ARCH OF FREE-FALL
MAGGIE BOYD - THE TRIUMPHAL ARCH OF FREE-FALL
This book was made with clay, Maggie Boyd’s medium of choice. Boyd uses clay like an illustrator uses paper, made by rolling out slabs of clay and then painting with glazes each panel of the book exists as a physical clay object. Each tile was photographed and laid out and coupled with text that tells the story of a person (Boyd) on their journey through the physicality of having a child and the toll it takes on the body and that the body lives on and through and through.
The book was conceived as an accordion book to represent the cylindrical nature of Boyd’s ceramics and how no matter what she is making she is always using these functional objects to create a piece of art that tells a story.
